Socio-economic determinants of adoption of good cashew production practices in Benin Republic

This study analysed factors that drive producers’ decision to adopt good production practices in cashew production. Data were collected from 395 randomly selected producers 23 top favourable municipalities (based on criteria such as climate, soil, and disease management) for Benin. A multivariate probit regression model was used estimate the determinants of adoption practices. Findings showed 70.38% use firebreaks, 58.23% carried out thinning 18.48% employed pest management Overall, agricultural negatively influenced by farm-to-market distance, sex producer positively correlated with land size owned; income production, membership a cooperative group, contact research agency, participation training perception The pace is still low yet pests diseases are one major constraints Policies programs support focus strengthening capacities through adequate extension services delivery, considering their access productive resources.
